The Wild North is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the development and success of the wildlife and nature tourism industry within The Northern Periphery based on sustainable operations.
The Wild North will achieve this through the innovative and interdisciplinary approach of joining together biological and tourism researchers, tourism operators and local and national authorities in a “triple helix” to:
• create data and knowledge on and about wildlife and nature tourism and its effects on the natural resources it utilises
• produce innovation and harmonised ideals and frameworks in and between the 3 helix sectors for the sustainable operation and growth of the wildlife and nature tourism industry
• market and promote The Wild North partners, The Northern Periphery and the use of sustainable wildlife and nature tourism
Vision: That wildlife and nature tourism is undertaken in a responsible and sustainable way towards the natural resources upon which it is based.
Mission: To bring together and assist researchers and the tourism industry in co-operation, there by facilitating the research and monitoring of the specific and unique wildlife and nature utilised within this growing sector and producing knowledge and frameworks eg, The Wild North Code of Conduct, from which the industry can operate and increase in a sustainable manner.
To network local and national authorities with the researchers and industry to produce harmonised ideals and/or policy based on access to The Wild North information, knowledge and frameworks.
